Youth Services Librarian
The Moffat Library of Washingtonville (Orange county, NY) seeks an energetic, positive, service-oriented professional to fill the position of full-time youth services librarian.
Minimum requirements: MLS degree from an ALA accredited school of Library and Information Science; a NYS Public Librarian Certificate and evidence of a strong preference to work with young people in a public library setting. This is a civil service Librarian I position. Will consider May 2022 MLIS graduates.
Our dream candidate will welcome all library patrons equally, build a strong teen group of active, dedicated participants, and bring a smile to every story time and book club meeting.
Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Collection development, reference and readers advisory services for children and teens; designing and facilitating original and creative virtual and in-person programming for ages birth to teens and their families; collaborate with area schools & organizations; and all other facets of services for youth and families. Should have a strong facility with online resources, gaming and technical training.
Hours & Benefit Package:
- 40 hours per week, including two evenings per week & some weekends
- Benefits include health insurance, paid time off and NYS retirement system enrollment
- Salary commensurate with experience
